Minimum
Qualifications:
LPN or RN, must provide license Current First Aid (waived if RN/LPN) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator Certification Reports to:
Building Administrator - Work is overseen and directed by School Nurse or School Nurse Assistant Job Goal:
To provide the delivery of comprehensive school health services
Responsibilities:
Provides first aid treatment including emergency care.
Promotes sound health practices to prevent the spread of communicable diseases Reports suspected child abuse as mandated.
Carries out technical procedures for students with special health care needs (i.
e.
, glucose monitoring, urinary catheterization, peak flow monitoring, etc.
), and documents procedure.
Oversees students self-administering medication in health office as directed with the orders of the prescribing physician.
Reports concerns regarding student's medications to supervising nurse.
Clerical:
Assists with collection and maintenance of daily health records and data.
Initiates accident/incident reports.
Office Management:
Assesses and provides care to children who are ill or injured and maintains log of care administered to students.
Other duties as directed by building administrator.
Communication:
Maintains open communication and refers questions to School Nurse or Nurse Asst.
Maintains confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues.
