Summary:
In the position as a Process Controller, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining the steps taken to assure the finished good product meets regulatory, customer, and company net content requirements.
This Process Controller outlines the requirements for performing an on-line finished product weight inspection, recording findings, and assigning corrective action when deficiencies are found.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain SPC weight sheets.
Maintain calibration of scale and other measuring equipment.
Make necessary adjustments to all weight control equipment to ensure the ingredient weight is within established control limits.
Perform inspections across all stages of production prior to packaging, which includes confirming ingredient part numbers, descriptions match formula, and there are no food safety or quality risks and concerns.
Other inspections maybe assigned as directed by the production supervisor and manager.
Prepare and maintain test data for review.
Ensure mass balancing checks are completed at least twice per shift.
Evaluate data and draft reports related to weight control, FG and Quality checks, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards.
Identify areas for quality control improvement and implement new methods accordingly.
Communicate quality or compliance concerns with urgency to QA and relevant management staff.
Ensure ingredients staged on the line match formula.
Formulate and record the target weight, minimum and maximum operating weight ranges on the SPC weight sheet.
Complete graph charts and weight check sheets noted on the Process Control SOP.
Maintain and keep area clean from debris.
Train new employees in the process procedures.
All staff are responsible for Compliance with all GMP, Food Safety and Plant Safety rules while in the processing facility.
Staff are encouraged to report Food Safety and Quality concerns immediately to their supervisors and Quality representatives on shift.
Other responsibilities as assigned by Management.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
This individual must be self-motivated, have strong leadership skills and work well with minimal supervision.
Must have solid understanding of test equipment such as Bostwick meters, weight scales, calipers, thermometers, rulers.
Must be able to perform basic math calculations with the assistance of a calculator.
Individuals must have excellent organizations skills and demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are needed to ensure compliance with quality standards and resolution of issues.
Basic computer skills including MS word and Excel.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to routinely lift and carry product samples weighing up to 20 lbs.
Be able to perform the above tasks in different working conditions, such as hot and cold environments.
Medically fit to handle minor exposure to chemical cleaning solutions.
Must wear assigned PPE and follow sanitation procedures.
At least 8 hours on feet standing or walking to workstation.
Ability to climb ladders, stoop, bend and reach to maneuver around equipment.
