Summary:
This role performs testing on food products and ingredients ensuring prompt communication of any concerns with other departments regarding compliance to Quality Standards.
This individual must be self-motivated, have strong leadership skills and work well in a Team setting.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
1.
Conducts routine Quality checks and logs results.
2.
Inspects packaging, labels, date codes, shelf life, and performs tests on incomingingredients.
3.
Conducts daily instruments up-keep and standardization/calibration of equipment.
4.
Conducts daily GMP inspections.
5.
90% Quality floor testing and 10% paperwork.
6.
Ensure that all products are quality ready for all customers.
7.
Continuously monitor all food products for food safety and quality defects 8.
All staff are responsible for Compliance with all GMP, Food Safety and Plant Safetyrules while in the processing facility.
Staff are encouraged to report Food Safety and Quality concerns immediately to their supervisors and Quality representatives on shift.
9.
Other responsibilities as assigned by Management.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years of experience as a QC Technician.
This individual must be self-motivated, have strong leadership skills and work well in a team setting.
Must be able to perform basic math calculations with the assistance of a calculator.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are needed to ensure compliance to quality standards and resolution of issues.
Basic computer skills including MS word and Excel.
Must have completed training in the GMP's, SQF and company food safety programs with GFSI systems a plus.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1.
Ability to routinely lift and carry product samples weighing up to 20 lbs.
2.
Be able to perform the above tasks in different working conditions, such as hot and cold environments 3.
Medically fit to handle minor exposure to chemical cleaning solutions.
4.
Must wear assigned PPE and follow sanitation procedures5.
At least 8 hours on feet standing or walking to workstationWORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position works in a manufacturing environment with variable temperature and loud noises from machinery and equipment alarms.
The incumbent will be exposed to loud noises and alarms from equipment and machinery.
It all started way back in 1948back when we had an honest-to-goodness working farm on the outskirts of the bustling metropolis of Chicago.
As one of the largest specialty vegetable farms in the Midwest, we worked the land, bringing fresh produce to market.
And even though we've grown out of that first urban farm, we haven't forgotten what it means to be an Urban Farmer.
